Biography
Polish cellist Alicja Kozak enjoys a busy orchestra and chamber music career collaborating with ensembles and orchestras across the UK and EU, such as Sinfonia Cymru, C/O Chamber Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra and others. She has recently been appointed as Sub Principal Cello of the Welsh National Opera orchestra.

As a keen chamber musician she regularly performs in various ensembles and settings.
Her chamber music appearances include performances at Wigmore Hall, Berlin Mendelsson Remise, National Orchestra of Polish Radio in Katowice, and festivals such as the International Sommer Academy Wien, Musethica Berlin Festival, Festival Ensemble (Poland), Tri- Academy Alliance (Shanghai), Usedomer Festival, Summer Festival in Penderecki Centre with the Berliner Philharmoniker’s Scharoun Ensemble.

Alicja is a prizewinner at several international competitions including; Spisak International Competition, Concurso Internacional De Musica AgustÃn Aponte, Gustav Mahler Prize Cello Competition as well as the Danczowski Cello Competition, which is the longest running cello competition in Poland.

She has performed as a soloist with orchestras in the Polish cities of Zabrze, Koszalin, Zielona Gora, and has also given solo recitals in the Chamber Halls of, the Zielona Gora Philharmonic, the I.J. Paderewski Centre, Southwark Cathedral (London), St. John’s Smith Square (London), and many others.

Her musical education began at the age of 6 in Krakow (Poland). She completed studies at the Frederic Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and received a scholarship to continue her studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama from which she graduated with distinction receiving a Concert Recital Diploma for her final recital.
In masterclass settings Alicja has worked with artists such as Jens Peter Maintz, Peter Bruns, Reinhard Latzko, Emil Rovner, Jerome Pernoo, and Romain Garioud. She has also benefitted from the direct mentorship of members of: the Bozzini Quartet, the Heath Quartet, the Endellion Quartet, the Dante Quartet, the London Symphony Orchestra, the LA Philharmonic, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Gould Piano Trio.

Alicja was selected for the 2020/2021 Foyle Future First - London Philharmonic Orchestra development program and was awarded a Junior Fellowship at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2021.
